Alternative Media Services for Targeted Traffic
If you’ve watched television recently, you’ve probably noticed that prominent websites are advertising in the medium, as well as in radio, magazines, and newspapers. They must be getting a good return on their investments, or they wouldn’t be advertising offline. Although it’s probably cost prohibitive for you to advertise your own site in the mainstream media, there are alternatives that can drive targeted traffic to your website and give you benefits that are similar to those of advertising in traditional media.
1. YouTube
Even though a YouTube video doesn’t reach as many people as a regular television commercial, it’s the next best thing because it doesn’t cost anything if you do it yourself. All you need to increase your targeted traffic with YouTube are some photos or video and basic editing software. If you have Windows, there is Windows Movie Maker, which is very easy to understand and use. If you have a Mac, you probably have iMovie.
Make up a commercial with the movie making software, sign up for an account on YouTube, and post it. It can be embedded on your website or blog, and it can be a great advertising tool to get targeted traffic to your site.
2. Podcast
There are a lot of sites that are doing podcasts to advertise their businesses. They use them to do interviews, discuss current events, and promote their products and services. If you know of a site that has a podcast, ask them if they will do an advertisement for you. You can pay them by giving them a discount or a free item, and offer them a percentage of the sales that you make with the podcast. Just assign a code to the promotion and have those doing the podcast tell people to type the code in the form when they are ordering. It’s just like a radio commercial but it’s not as expensive.
These are the two alternatives that you can use to advertise your business without spending a lot of money. As you can see, they are a great way to get targeted traffic to your site.
